These shoes were made for walking.....

Ben is up and moving......all the time.  He crawls for distance, cruises with lightning speed, and now takes a few steps just because he can.  It has been so fun to watch Ben's locomotion progress from belly to on all fours to now, up on those little chubby feet!
What comes with walking?  Well, shoes of course.  Marc and I started looking around for his first shoe.  (Granted, he has had a few pairs but more for fashion than function!)  Well, the second his B heard he was ready for shoes, she jumped at this opportunity.  She had the perfect store in mind so that he would be fitted correctly!  Wednesday, Ben, B, and myself headed to Sikes in Homewood.  Turns out, our little guy has a WIDE foot and is in a 4 1/2.  We browsed and found the perfect shoe.  Somewhere in between a crib shoe and a tennis shoe, the Stride Rite Soft Motion Nash was the one.  With little white socks, he tried on his new shoes.  He cruised up and down the bench and "walked" over to a fun shoe display with the help of his B's hand.  It was so fun!!  There was a bit of tripping over these new foot extensions, but overall, he adapted well.
We celebrated this new find with a nice lunch at Demetris.  I had never been there before, but I quickly found out that it was a regular eating spot for my parents.  So, with the help of Ben and myself, my mom ate at this very very familiar place once again.  Tears fell a few times as she ordered her "usual", but we laughed a lot as well.  Ben had a great time eating his lunch too.  A slice of cheese, pieces of my roll, and  some puffs made for a very yummy lunch.....and a very entertaining lunch as well!
What a fun day!  So, Ben's new shoes were made for walking.....and that is just what he will do!!
