9 Month Checkup

Ben's 9 month Pediatrician visit was this morning.  Ben slept in a bit and we headed to the first appointment of the day.  We checked in and sat down and waited (....the front office wanted an updated information sheet filled out while we waited.....filling out a form on a clip board while holding a 9mth hold was a challenge to say the least!)
We are called back and get all of Ben's new 9 mth measurements:
He is weighing in at a whopping 21.12 lbs (75th %tile)
He is 30 inch in length (95th %tile)
We play while we wait on the doctor to arrive.  This room allowed me to teach Ben all about mice.....and apparently mice like to knit (according to the painting in the room).
Dr Petelos arrives and checks Ben out.  Ben is smiling and talking.  Then he checks his ears.  His right ear was infected and his left ear had a smaller infection.  Again, who would have thought it?  No fever, no change in appetite, no real change in attitude, and no change in sleeping.
So, because of the ears, we are given a prescription for antibiotics and no shots today.  We schedule for a checkup (and the shots) in 3 weeks.  He did however have to have his hematocrit checked.....which is a finger prick test.  No fun there at all!

So, off to our pharmacy to get the medicine then back home to rest.  He is still happy and smiling...still eating great and playing.  So, we'll treat the mysterious ear infection and celebrate 9 months of happiness with our BIG boy Ben!!

  1. We see Dr. Petelos too! Small world!! The finger prick is awful... I totally feel for you there!! Ben is one tough kiddo to have two infections and not let you know! Bless his heart.
