A night when....
the people you love are all around
the food is served on pretty platters and oh so delicious
the dress can range from casual to elegant.....and sometimes in between
the decor is full of sparkles, glitters, and lights
the clock is watched with anticipation
the laughter and smiles abound
the memories of the year dance around in the conversation
the plans for the new year are being made/changed/made-over again
the kiss that will seal the deal
the air is just downright magical
Marc and I have gone all out for some NYEs....a nice dinner then out somewhere fun to ring in the New Year. Marc and I have spent a NYE at a wedding with friends overlooking Birmingham. Marc and I have now had the most fun NYE yet. Last night, 2012 ended and 2013 began at our most favorite place with our most favorite people on earth. We spent the evening at home with our 2 babies.
I cooked shrimp and rice, set the table with our fine china, got out our Happy New Year hats, and got the kids all dressed up. Ben in his new monogrammed "burberry" print longall and Abby in her pink smocked long bubble romper. We ate dinner on our most fancy dishes and then of course moved the dishes out of the way and played with play-doh. We watched Ben and Abby's favorite DVD. We sang and danced not to a DJ or band....but to a guy named Raffi who sings songs about "Brush your Teeth", "Little Red Wagon", and "Wheels on the Bus". We wore our hats, played with their toys, and took fun pictures. Ben learned how to use the automatic timer on the camera, so we had plenty of timer pictures to take. We kept them up until they were ready to fall out. We rang in the New Year at 8pm....and got/gave the most precious kisses to our most precious babies.
(gotta love automatic camera timer...especially when you accidentally set it to take 10 consecutive pictures instead of 1)
There truly are nights that are beyond memorable. This was one of those nights. Who better to spend a magical night with than the 2 reasons our world is complete. The 2 most wonderful gifts....our gifts.....are the reason 2012 was so unbelievable and the reason 2013 will be even better.
Happy New Year from the Rosners!!
