Mom kept sweet Ben (and had a wonderful time!). Her night got even more exciting after Ben went to sleep and the power went out in our neighborhood. Luckily, it didn't stay off too long! And Ben slept through the whole thing! While Mom held down the fort, Marc and I went to our friend's beautiful New Years Eve wedding in Homewood and reception at Vulcan. We overlooked Birmingham with all it's twinkling lights as 2011 passed by. We were surrounded by so many of our friends and rang in the new year with fun music, great food, and lots of laughs. Since I am almost 7 months pregnant, I held back on dancing....and danced mostly from my chair. As hard as it was to resist the late 80s and 90s music that is so fun to dance to (ie, "Pour Some Sugar on Me"), my preggo belly and achy back held me back just a bit! As we counted down 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, we celebrated the passing of one year and the welcoming of a brand new one!
What all has 2011 brought us?
There have been some sad moments but some precious and wonderful ones too.
We have grieved over the loss of the most wonderful man in the world.....but celebrated everything he did, everything he taught us, and everything....absolutely everything about him!
We got through all of the "firsts" without my Dad.....and made wonderful memories with each one!
In February, I returned to work and started a great job working 2 days a week. This has given me a perfect combination of "career" and "mommy". As hard as it was for me to leave Ben on that first day in February, I did. He has made so many friends and has gone from the Tadpole to the Penguin class.

We flew for the first time with our family of 3. We headed to NJ for my sister-in-law's wedding in March. Ben was 4 months old....and we were exhausted!
We celebrated our first Easter as a family. The Easter Bunny left Ben a very fun basket!
We found out our family of 3 is going to be 4! We now await Abigail Grace in 2012.
We took our first family vacation to the beach.
We had a first Halloween.....and a fuzzy/waddling Penguin!
We had Ben's 1 year Birthday!
We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with a walking toddler!
We were able to celebrate Christmas like never before.....the magic of Christmas was experienced through the eyes of a baby....and that was priceless!
And we were able to witness.......An amazingly fast growing almost 14 month old who now holds our hearts even more. He has taken over our world in every wonderful way. Our house has been transformed into an all baby environment with toys and some type of baby proofing installed in every room. Our cars now have a rear facing convertible seats with all sorts of toys and blankets. Our meals now include giving bites of all types of food to a very curious young pallet. (Some accepted....and some not so much). Eating out now includes the phrase, "2 with a high chair" or "where do you keep your highchairs?". The most amazing part has been that in 1 year, our little guy has gone from a tiny baby boy to a walking/"talking"/hugging/smiling/laughing little guy.

Now on to 2012! We can't even imagine what all that will bring!!
