A name. It is something that is with you from as early as before you are born.....sometimes, before you were even conceived. It is something that you will learn to write in both print and cursive. It is something that you will see monogrammed and engraved. It is something that will be written 1 million times on everything from your first math test to your college diploma. It is something that is shortened to a fun nickname. It is something that with you forever.
When we found out we were having a boy, Marc and I both knew we loved that name Benjamin....and Ben for short. It's Hebrew origin and meaning drew us.... "son of my right hand". Luke was a name that went well with Benjamin and it's history is found in the Bible as "the beloved physician". Now that we know Ben, his name is even more perfect!
So, now we have been in search of a girl name....the perfect girl name for our little girl. Her name has a story. Back this summer, when my Dad was getting more and more sick, I wanted to tell him everything that we had in plan......so that when the plan came about, it would be as if he already knew. I told him we were going to try and have another baby. What I didn't know, was how quickly this would occur. Just a few weeks after we lost my Dad, we found out we were expecting. What a joyous blessing found in the middle of all of our saddness. Then 19 weeks later, we found out that our baby was a girl. Marc and I both wanted her name to symbolize my Dad. The name we were drawn to means "a father's joy". Her middle name means "favor;blessing". My Dad's initials were G.A. Gerald Allen. And so, we chose to mirror him with A.G. She will be a joyous blessing.....our joyous blessing.
Our little girl will carry with her the name Abigail Grace.
It's beautiful.... love all that it represents.
