Under the weather

We have been blessed with a very healthy little boy.  But recently ear infections seem to be haunting us.  Ben doesn't show the typical signs and symptoms of ear infections......never a change in appetite, never a change in mood, never a change in sleep, and never any fever..etc.  This makes it very difficult for mommy to know when her baby is sick. 
Well, last night, when Ben woke up at 11 pm crying, we knew something was up.  He quieted down after a diaper change and a bottle but didn't rest as quietly as he normally does.  At 5:15, he was up and not happy.  His runny nose had turned into a fountain, a bad cough was now heard, and low grade fever was measured.  We tried our best to soothe our little fella until we could get him to the doctor at 9:15.  (Our doctor was running behind, so we hung out in our little room for about 40 minutes.....Ben was making quite the fashion statement in his diaper and kicks!)

Diagnosis.....another ear infection and a terrible cold and cough.  After another round of antibiotics was ordered and a consult with an ENT was given, we were headed home to rest.  Our poor Ben ate a quick lunch, took his medicine, and went right to sleep.  4 hours later, he woke with 101.1 fever.  Sadder but still as sweet as ever, his mommy tried her best to make it all better.  What did he want for a snack?  Well, this mommy said, "anything you want!".  We decided on some cold icecream and a dose of tylanol....a few bites later, his fever was decreasing.
Our poor little Ben is a bit under the weather.....but he still manages to be the sweetest guy.
