Last Wednesday, Ben and his parents flew to NJ for his Aunt Rachel's wedding. As I posted earlier, I am not a very good flier. Well, off we went. Our adventure started at 430 am as we were up getting ready for the airport. 2 suitcases, 2 carry-ons, 1 diaper bag, and a stroller/carseat were packed and ready to go. Ben had his own suitcase!! Marc and I shared one. We picked the busiest day in the B'ham Airport history to fly. Security check was a bit chaotic. Between waking a sleeping baby to walk through the metal detector, to breaking down a stroller/carseat to get it on the conveyor belt, to Ben's diaper bag being unpacked by the officer....we were already exhausted. He did great on the flight Bham to Atl...awake the whole time. Small lay over. Then the longer flight to NJ. He did good....better than his mommy and slept most of the way there.

We arrive and are picked up my his Grandpa and Omie. It is so sweet to see Ben with them. I can only imagine how they have missed him. The last time they held him was when he was 2 weeks old. BIG changes!! Such a fun time to watch as they read to him....sing to him. I just know Ben had the best time!! His Aunt Rachel and soon to be Uncle Noah came over. Uncle Eric was there too. It was so wonderful to have the family all together!! Unfortunately, Ben got his first cold while up in NJ. A call to the pediatrician lead us to saline drops! Thank goodness I packed the green suction bulb!!
We head to the hotel on Saturday afternoon. I was a bridemaid so I spent the afternoon with the bride at a wonderful salon by the hotel. Pictures started at 430 so we had to get Ben all ready too. He of course had to have a "tux" as well!! Ben got to meet his great Grandparents for the first time. How amazing that Ben has them!!!
Rachel looked so beautiful! All the pictures wore Baby Ben out!! After a quick nap, he was very much awake! Luckily, a sweet friend of the family, tried her best to keep Ben happy while the ceremony went on. I heard my sweet baby cry in the hallway outside.....so Marc had to walk out and check on him. He calmed down and was able to enjoy the beautiful cocktail hour ASLEEP. Since the bride and groom's chocolate lab didn't attend, she was represented by the ice sculpture.
The reception was in the breathtaking ballroom. Because the band was a little too loud for 4mth old's ears, Ben and his parents spent most of the evening in the atrium. We would head in for a bit, but then leave when the it got too loud. We went were able to see the father of the bride dance with his beautiful daughter and then give the most touching speech. Ben and I got to dance....it jut wasn't on the dance floor! The dinner was amazing and the dessert was even better!!
Even though Ben slept through most of the evening, I think he had a good time! He got lots of attention and was passed from hand to hand!
The next morning we attended the wedding brunch. Again, Rachel looked just beautiful! Baby Ben got to spend a bit more time with the family. He is loved by so many people!!
Our trip home was a bit more stressful than the one prior. A 3o minute delay, followed by another 30 minutes sitting on a parked plane is a bit rough. Baby Ben was getting a bit restless even before the flight took off. He had a bottle and a nice nap that let his parents relax a bit. (I would like to say thank you to the loud stewardess on the flight for coming up to me and saying/screaming "oh, he finally went to sleep" at the top of her lungs!!) So, Ben was up!! So happy when we landed in Atlanta....but had minutes to get to our next flight. We were one of the last to board and off we went. As you see, there aren't pictures taken on this flight.....or afterward. We ALL looked a bit rough!!
So, we can honestly say, we had the greatest weekend celebrating the marriage of Rachel and Noah!! Baby Ben has no idea how much he is loved and cherished by so many people. When he gets older, we will share with him all the memories and pictures!! Ben flew for the first time, went to his grandparent's house in NJ for the first time, got a cold for the first time, and went to a wedding for the first time. Alot of first for a little baby boy!!!
