Dad took pride in many things in his life. He absolutely loved his family beyond measure. There was nothing more important than that. He adored his friends and they adored him. His faith was the foundation for everything. He wasn't concerned with materials and possessions. As long as his family had what they wanted, he was satisfied. One thing that Dad took the most pride in on this earth was his yard. For those who have driven past his yard, it is always manicured to the finest detail. The shrubs and bushes and trees were pristine. His grass was like green carpet. He arranged the flowers just as my mom wanted them. He had each section personally chosen and perfect. This was his hobby. This is what he would spend his free time doing. But the greatest thing about it wasn't to bring attention to him. But to make his family's house look perfect. Everything was all about his family. For the last 3 years, Marc and my Dad became very close. He was his second son. Dad taught Marc all of his tricks of the trade. Marc has become Dad's protege. When Dad got to be where he couldn't take care of the lawn, Marc stepped in. He mowed the grass just like my Dad. He edged the sidewalks and driveway in perfect line. He did this not for the glory....but to make my Dad's house look perfect. He would come in and tell Dad what he did.....and when Dad couldn't get up to go see it, we would tell him how great it looked. Dad's Garden of Eden is now Marc's. And no other man could fill my Dad's Garden Shoes like him. After all, when you've been trained by the best....you become the best as well.
